    The public sector, inclusive of both the US Federal Government as well as State and Local Government and Education are critical growth segments for Iron Mountains US business unit.  Based on strong investment and dedicated focus on the US Federal Government, Iron Mountain has nearly doubled its business in this segment to just under $100M with a focus on double digit growth in this space annually.  Iron Mountain continues to develop compliant solutions that are exceedingly well positioned to meet the records and information transformation needs of the US Federal Government.  These services span the full information management and transformation lifecycle and include; physical records storage and destruction, dedicated physical and digital storage and vaulting, compliant IT Asset Destruction, physical to digital records conversion, data center services, workflow automation, and onsite project services.  


    About the Role:


    The Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Public Sector (Public Sector GM) is first and foremost, a highly ethical, high integrity, transformational and visionary leader, who is responsible for driving significant future growth for Iron Mountain.  Essentially, the Public Sector GM serves as CEO for the U.S. Public Sector business unit.


    Reporting into the EVP & GM of the North American Records & Information Management (EVP NA R&IM) business, the Public Sector GM will be responsible for profitably growing the US Federal Government business for Iron Mountain as well as acting as the overall thought leader to ensure growth within our State, Local, & Education (SLED) market segment. This leader must possess a keen understanding of the key drivers and needs of these critical market segments and have the ability to leverage the full suite of Iron Mountain resources to deliver relevant and targeted solutions to meet these specific needs and/or requirements with an eye toward profitable growth. This leader will be responsible for developing and executing a targeted strategy, strong P&L management, business forecasting, ensuring the proper resourcing, structure, and alignment of this business, driving profitable growth, driving the development of targeted and compliant products, and ensuring compliant contracting and marketing for these sectors. 


    At a high level, the Public Sector GM will:

    • Maintain and grow the trust and confidence of Public Sector customers
    • Develop and articulate the Public Sector business goals and strategy
    • Determine near-term and longer-term strategic growth plans that are aligned with Iron Mountain’s overall growth plan and deliver upon the current NA R&IM growth needs and Public Sector multi-year plan.
    • Prioritize and cultivate Public Sector networks, opportunities, and necessary solutions to scale the business
    • Build capabilities and align/inform functional plans and priorities
    • Set financial targets and deliver Federal / Public Sector P&L results
    • Build strong internal and external networks to maximize focus and resource allocation in these critical business segments.

    Specifically, the GM’s overall responsibilities are to:

    • Manage and oversee the qualification and proposal development process to increase company’s competitive position and win rate. Identify customer needs to facilitate the design, development, and effective launch of new offerings and go to market strategies within the Business Unit and the national service lines.
    • Maintain market and competitive intelligence and develop proactive strategies to enhance the company’s position within the Federal and SLED sectors.
    • Partner with and leverage all appropriate internal and external resources in defining and continually improving the growth and service delivery strategy of the Federal business unit.
    • Act as the overall owner of the Public Sector P&L. Implement and maintain a management process to provide accurate business unit forecasting, deliver strong cost management in alignment with budgeted expectations, and effective gap planning and resource allocation to ensure success toward established P&L targets
    • Enhance, develop and upgrade the delivery organization as needed, ensuring that all contract vehicles are in place and compliant. Today the company works directly with various Federal and SLED agencies to include DHS, VA, DOD, and as a sub-prime with numerous service integrators. Develop partnerships with further target agencies and tier one integrators and small business.
    • Develop and communicate strategic plans that will define the resources and support requirements to achieve exceptional service delivery and maintain revenue growth, predictability and satisfied clients. Work closely with various resources at Iron Mountain to harness all capabilities to solve big problems in the Public Sector space.
    • Implement and maintain an effective process to provide current and accurate bookings projections, pipeline forecasts and lead prospect reports. Will have responsibility for hiring and firing to be certain the unit has the best talent in all key roles.
    • Ensure ongoing business development focus and deliver an effective and efficient customer proposal process. Ensure the end-to-end management of lead development, client presentations, negotiations, final assessment, client management and project management/implementation. Maintain and grow strong industry relationships in the federal and SLED marketplaces, and bring a broad perspective that will enable him/her to gain immediate credibility with customers, partners and within the Iron Mountain organization.  Must understand how to partner and position as sub or prime.
    • Partner closely with the Iron Mountain Government Affairs organization to maximize focus and results of ongoing lobbying efforts and partnerships.
