    The vice president of marketing, branding and communications is responsible for developing and leading Iron Mountain’s awareness and perception changing strategy and execution. He or she supports executive and business unit leadership as a trusted communications advisor and strategist, leading public relations, analyst/influencer relations, branding and advertising, content marketing, social media, and event strategy. This role will also partner with Investor Relations, Employee Communications, and Government Affairs to drive a connected communications strategy.


    Reporting to our Sr. Vice President of Global Marketing, you will define and execute the communications strategy and messaging that inspires current and future customers to choose Iron Mountain because of the compelling value we continue to bring to their business.  Key objectives include:

    • Shifting perceptions of Iron Mountain from the trusted guardian of physical assets to a leader in digital transformation services
    • Drive broader awareness of Iron Mountain’s value and capabilities across global markets, especially our digital solutions such as Iron Cloud, Data Center, Iron Mountain Insight, Workflow and Information Governance Solutions
    • Inspire media, analyst, and influential communities to admire and publicize Iron Mountain’s ability to evolve and be an industry leader


    As a senior marketing leader, you enjoy the opportunity to work with and influence all levels of the organization including:  Enterprise Leadership, P&L Leadership, Sales, Human Resources, Investor Relations, Product Marketing, Demand Marketing, Digital Marketing, Sales Enablement and Customer Experience. You will work across our business and global leaders to synthesize our compelling value proposition, and design and execute a connected marketing communications strategy that is relevant, creative, memorable and impactful. You are passionate about leading and championing the Iron Mountain brand and extending its relevance and impact to a new generation of customers.

    Successful measures can include: Media reach, Media frequency, Impressions, Coverage accuracy, Share of voice, Customer/prospect sentiment, awareness, engagement, Paid vs. earned media placement, Social media impact (network growth, share of voice, sentiment, influence), Impact of outbound communications efforts on subsequent demand creation efforts (both inbound and outbound), and placement in key industry analyst reports (eg Gartner MQ)


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop coordinated, enterprise-wide corporate communications strategy
    • Lead a team of 10+ marketing communications professionals across PR, AR, Brand/Advertising, Content, Events, and Social Media
    • Set measurable objectives for the communications function
    • Lead corporate media/public relations and analyst/influencer relations efforts, and act as centralized resource for product or regional functions
    • Curate, architect and promulgate centralized corporate content
    • Coordinate corporate/community affairs functions
    • Implement protocols and best practices in anticipation of crisis management
    • Implement key communications policies, protocols and guidelines
    • Act as a corporate spokesperson
    • Develop corporate social media strategy and governance
    • Develop and lead a global integrated advertising program across key markets
    • Oversee the Iron Mountain Brand guidelines and direction
    • Oversee communications measurement, including the design and operation of relevant dashboards and reports
    • Oversee the selection of agencies and manage these critical relationships


    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, • Master’s degree/MBA preferred
    • Certifications/affiliations Preferred: PRSA, IABC, IPR


    • 12 or more years corporate communications and brand leadership or related experience
    • 5 or more years Demand Marketing, Product Marketing, or Technology Industry Marketing experience preferred
    • Hands-on corporate public relations experience, ideally within the same or similar industry
    • Previous demonstrated linkage of communications efforts to an organization’s broader campaign plan
    • Previous demonstrated crisis management/avoidance
    • Successfully led global brand transformation initiative; Implementation and management of global brand guidelines
    • Successfully developed and nurtured technology analyst relationships, e.g. Gartner, IDC, etc;
    • Management of large onsite and offsite teams collaborating on complex projects
    • Management of communications to multiple complex stakeholder groups at a local, regional, national and international scale
    • Selection and oversight of traditional and social communications agencies
    • Management of budget and resource allocation to support success and efficiency
