  • Overview

    Our drivers are the public face of Iron Mountain, trusted to transport and handle client materials and engage with clients and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner. Drivers are responsible for driving a company vehicle to transport materials from client and Iron Mountain locations; loading and unloading through a variety of mechanisms; using wireless scanning technology; preparing paperwork and performing daily vehicle maintenance to ensure it functions efficiently. This position calls for a significant amount of physical strength and stamina. We pay by the hour, not the mile.

    • Communicates in a friendly professional manner with clients and co-workers
    • Operates and maintains company vehicle safely and efficiently, whether manual or standard transmission
    • Handles all physical requirements for loading, transporting and driving without assistance (details below)
    • Executes accurate and timely handling of client delivery requests
    • Prepares accurate paperwork and records

    Responsibilities

    • Climb/step-up into a truck cab
    • Grip, lift, push, pull, and carry wheeled, plastic bins over, up and down inclines, stairs, changes in walking surfaces and elevations
    • Lift at least 70 lbs.
    • Walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
    • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
    • Be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening, a background check and a DOT physical
    • Demonstrate safe and efficient driving skills
    • At least one year of route transportation experience is preferred
    • Computer proficiency
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
    • Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
    • Commitment to adhere and enforce all security procedures

    Qualifications

    Must be proficient at operating a vehicle requiring a commercial driver’s license of A or B class. Ability to perform customer service through interacting and servicing external and internal customers. Proficient at interpreting and performing route plans and using scanning equipment. Require attention to detail and accuracy.

    Job / Physical Requirements/Qualifications: This position calls for a significant amount of strength and stamina.

     

    A. Physical Requirements:

    a. Climb/Step up into a truck cab

    b. Grip, lift, push, pull, and carry wheeled, plastic bins over, up and down inclines, stairs, changes in walking surfaces and elevations

    c. Lift at least 70 lbs.

    d. Walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time

    e. Push, Pull bins from 25-350 lbs., with an average weight of 170 lbs.

    f. Must be at least 21 years old with a valid CLASS B CDL driver’s license, have a good driving record

    g. Be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening, a background check and a DOT physical

    h. Demonstrate safe and efficient driving skill

     

    B. Travel Requirements:

    % Total travel: 90%(Local)

    % Local travel (Depending on District): 90%

    % Overnight travel: 0%

     

    C. Licenses & Certifications Required:

     

    Class A: Any combination of vehicles which has a gross combination weight rating or gross combination weight of 11,794 kilograms or more (26,001 pounds or more) whichever is greater, inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) whichever is greater.

     

    Or

     

    Class B: Any single vehicle which has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 11,794 or more kilograms (26,001 pounds or more), or any such vehicle towing a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight that does not exceed 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds).

     

    D. Qualifications: 

     

    Minimum Education    :    High School 

    Minimum Experience   :   1 year    

    Preferred Education    :    High School     

    Preferred Experience   :   2 – 4 Years
