Responsibilities

  1. Management of the Smart Hands/Infrastructure team: Manager will be responsible for the daily activities of the Infrastructure/Smart Hands team, to include all activity on the raised floor.  This position is responsible for Internal and External Project Design, and quoting, with financial responsibilities with regards to procurement, monthly budget forecasting and yearly budget analysis. This position will have special responsibilities around facility cable plant design, customer installations, structured cabling, Smart Hands support, and customer project management. Manager will also be responsible for goal setting and performance evaluations for the team.
  2. Management of Client Relationships and Client Projects at their site: Manager will be responsible for the full life cycle of the relationship between IMDC and the Client, to include but not limited to, Internal & External Customer Kickoff, Customer project management, Periodic Business Reviews, and Customer surveys. Outstanding customer service skills are required.
  • Responsible for the installation of all customer computer equipment to include power provisioning, racks, servers, data switches, and data cabling systems
  • Serve as a customer implementation Project Manager, assisting customers with their new installations into IMDC facilities
  • Insure adherence to Data Center best practices, and support the efficient operation of the facility by partnering with the Critical Facilities team in managing proper airflow and containment, and drive down PUE.
  • Order supplies and Customer Install equipment as necessary, maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Responsible for insuring the integrity of the documentation of all customer installations including assets, locations, connectivity, power distribution, customer loads, phase and redundancy limits, and SLA deviations within customer areas                                                    
  • Drive capacity planning and required projects in the facility cable plant focusing on customer network availability, efficiency and ease of management.
  • Serves a department liaison to other IMDC or IRM functional areas such as the NOC, Critical Facilities, Corporate IT and Network Services, Engineering, Procurement and Accounts Payable
  • Creation and maintenance of all customer onboarding and customer service processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5-7 years of Data Center Operations Experience

  • Expert-level knowledge of cable plant design, structured cabling, both fiber and copper, including proficiency with fusion splicing
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including UPS and standby power systems
  • Experience managing data center technicians
  • Experience managing support vendors and contractors
  • In depth knowledge of monitoring and control systems both operational and administratively
  • In depth knowledge of Data Center Operations including hardware installations, troubleshooting and problem analysis and various IT vendor maintainer programs

Business Expertise: Must have a good understanding of the procurement and budget process, understand financial forecasting, understand the importance that data centers play in the success of the company and our customers, and be skilled in managing vendors and contractors.

Leadership: This role is responsible for the activities and career development of several data center technicians and for coordinating with critical facilities to maintain 24 / 365 uptime   6) Problem Solving: This role must be able to analyze and quickly solve problems regarding both the communications and power infrastructure servicing the customers. Must also be able to effectively communicate and resolve procurement and invoicing issues with suppliers

Interpersonal Skills: This role must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with internal staff and external vendors / contractors. This position works with various teams requesting services.
