Based in Boston, the Director Investor Relations will support the Senor Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications in the following capacities:

  • Drive the development of strategic, integrated communications programs that support short- and long-term business objectives and enhance the company’s reputation and brand image
  • Ensure consistency of messages and positioning on a global basis
  • Partner with senior leaders to refine the Investor Relations Strategy, support strategic initiatives by leveraging current and future programs, and lead decision support on ad hoc requests
  • Analyze financial results and emerging business trends; compile data to support financial communication efforts and respond to inquiries from shareholders, investors and analysts
  • Direct an experienced staff of communication professionals responsible for delivering the company’s story through expansive communication channels (media relations, analyst relations, internet, etc.).
  • Provide professional development and coaching to communications staff


The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Influence at all levels of the organization and work with management across the company
  • Advise senior level management with confidence and serve as a communications expert
  • Take initiative and show leadership to advance complex projects within the Investor Relations and Corporate Communications group 

Specifically, the Director, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications will be involved with: 

  • Group analyst meetings and conferences
  • Developing messaging for major announcements, investor meetings, quarterly results conference calls, source data and update presentations 
  • Directing workflow from all communication pillars to support major announcements and events
  • Managing logistics related to conferences and events such as property tours and Investor Day


Financial analysis

  • Direct and execute collection, analysis, and presentation of feedback to the company of investors’ perceptions and opinions, security analysts’ positions and summarize relative stock price movements and periodic ownership analysis
  • Determine investor information gaps and recommend enhancements to  supplemental and other financial disclosures Ongoing tracking of analyst NAV models/estimates/price targets Evaluate incoming requests to determine if recurring themes are evident which should be addressed in company’s communications materials
  • Develop system for analyzing peer company financial and operating results Prepare comparative schedules and related materials for inclusion in Board materials, Sustainability Reporting
  • Collect information to support inclusion in Socially Responsible Investing Indexes


Verify Accuracy of published information

  • Ensure accuracy of historical financial information available from on-line resources
  • Support consistent corporate messaging through review of marketing press releases, supplemental, analyst reports, investor presentations, shareholder reports and reconcile discrepancies


Investor / Broker / Retail Contact

  • Handle day-to-day broker and retail investor requests and coordinate resolution of matters with transfer agent
  • Develop relationships with analysts and investors in order to provide back up to SVP, IR 
  • Prepare and distribute periodic investor updates to management and Board 
  • Assist in fact checking analyst reports
  • Work with vendors to identify investor targets and support target meeting calendar
  • Perform ad hoc analyses in support of quantitative inquiries
  • Schedule, coordinate and lead one-on-one and group meetings, where appropriate
  • Use IR CRM database to monitor and record contact with institutional investors
  • Coordinate and analyze effectiveness of initiatives aimed at brokers, i.e., broker fact sheet programs, virtual forums, e-zine fulfillment


IR Social Media Presence / IR Website Management

  • Develop strategy and maintain company’s IR social media presence
  • Coordinate social media calendar with Corporate Communications and recommend content suitable for investors
  • Develop investor fact sheet template to reflect REIT positioning
  • Manage IR portion of website for timeliness and accuracy/coordinate updates 
  • Respond to inquiries received from IR mailbox
  • Monitor technology advances and recommend adoption, where appropriate
  • Develop relationships and manage contracts with IR service providers


Financial PR / Internal Communications / Other 

  • Support financially related media information requests
  • Draft and edit news releases 
  • Manage distribution of press releases over wire service and to IR-related distribution lists
  • Work with EFP&A to manage budget and payables


Ideal Experience/Education

  • 7-10 years of work experience preferred; 5 years required 
  • #2 Investor Relations/Corporate Communications role at a public company during an aggressive change agenda and within a complex, matrixed environment 
  • Experience managing staff in varied communications roles, including corporate, customer, internal and public relations. Exposure to government affairs a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred (ideally with one degree in finance)
